I was walking in Harajuku when I saw this girl doing deep, full-body bows (we're talking a full 90°) and saying "HAI!" repeatedly. Hai! Bow. Hai! Bow. Hai! Bow.

This in-and-of-itself is nothing special—Japanese people are always bowing and saying "Hai!" Except that she's bowing to no one.

Is she crazy?
No.

She's talking on the cellphone! She's bowing to the person on the other end of the line!!! Her Pavlovian response to bow is so absurd and sad and cute and funny all at the same time.

Mostly funny, though.

So what's the best thing I saw this time around?
St. Mary's Cathedral.

All these trips to Tokyo, I can't believe I hadn't seen this gem of a cathedral until this time.
