Spent only a half-day in Basel, though technically even less than that as I spent a good
deal of it across the German border in Weil-am-Rhein, visiting the Vitra Design Museum. In
that roughly 12-hour span, I crossed the border back-and-forth five times (and by all sorts of
manners, too—by train, by car and by foot). I'm sure it's business as usual for
people who live there, but it's a new experience for me. The immigration at the Basel SBB
train station is interesting. There's no actual border to cross—there are just
immigration officials wandering the station and trains, asking people who look like
foreigners (i.e. me) for documentation.
